Now that I've risen from beneath an electric blanket, enjoyed eggs with brie and summer sausage (what a cruel bit of humor the fridge gave me on this frozen morning) on the side of sparkling red grape juice, finished a large mug of loose leaf Earl Grey, showered, dressed, and situated the laptop on the bed with a cat eagerly watching words magically appear, I feel that I can make myself productive. A very late Merry Christmas everyone, and Happy New Year!
I had toyed around with the idea of recapping the year last night, but as I had unexpected (but very welcome and loved) guests I found myself brainstorming another way to welcome the new year via this blog. So I came round to this idea.
Why not look ahead to the future? I am fond of looking ahead and speculating, and 2014 is certainly going to be a chock full year already, so why not pen some thoughts about what is ahead?
A little background unfortunately may be needed, though most of it is quite recent. My much loved kitty Kapono passed away at the young age of 4 and a half about a fortnight ago, and I rescued a young personality from the shelter a couple days after to give someone else the chance to have a warm(ish) roof above their head. His name is Edgar, with good reason.
Not only does he bear a stunning resemblance to E.A.P, but he seems quite obsessed with anything with words. He tends to bat my pencil while I sketch or write, and were he not sleeping against my arm at the moment he would be batting the cursor no doubt. I'm looking forwards to the upcoming year with him, however cut short it may be.
About a week and a half ago I received a leather coat (my birthday present) via mail, and a letter from Ringling College of Art and Design; my top choice, and only choice school. I've been accepted and will be moving down to Florida in 7 months. Truthfully I loved getting the coat, but the letter made the night.
In April I am hoping to go down to Florida to visit relatives and attend a college event, though that isn't certain yet. I love travelling, so I hope I will be able to make it down. Other trips I have loosely planned for this year include an excursion to the City (NYC), various local camping trips, a conference in Vermont, and a backpacking trip in the Adirondacks. I am looking forwards to all of them, however perhaps the most to the Adirondacks trip. The mountains are beautiful, and what a way to leave the state but to visit them.
I return to school Monday, and though I am not looking forwards to it all that much, I definitely want to wrap up my AP Art Portfolio so I can work on a series I've been looking forwards to doing since the summer. Greek Mythology will be the theme of it, and I have Medusa sketched, the Three Women thought about, and a list of others to begin work on.
This is a year of change, as truly every year is, and the change never has a start or end. Enjoy life to its fullest and have peace and happiness this time of year.
Frances
