Riding in the car down to the lake with my mum and bro |
I love this time of year. The weather has finally broken and I'm in love with soaking up the sun and warmth. It is also the final few weeks of school, and I don't have a single full week after this week, which is awesome!
This weekend I was planning on a concert, however I read the article about it wrong and they're not having one this year. It is going to be very nice though to have a free weekend to just work outside, drink some iced tea, and catch up on things. Next weekend is a writing conference that I went to last year up in Vermont, and I will definitely be taking my camera. After that is another weekend of working on the house, and the week after that I am Dj-ing for a club's dance at my school.
This week we've also been setting up for the annual art show, which will start the 20th. AP art has finished which is a huge relief. I'm not too worried about what score I get because, well, what is the sense of worrying?
I've noticed that a lot more I've been trying to live in the present; not necessarily carelessly, but observing and really being present in the now, which includes adventuring and experiencing the natural world right outside my doorstep. Maybe it is because I am leaving, but I notice now more than ever how beautiful it really is around here. I will miss some things, like the smell of the wet earth in spring time, and the color of the leaves in fall, but I simply cannot live through another winter here, and I am looking forwards to experiencing a different pace of life.
So, try really being present for a day and see how it feels. You might even notice that things are not as bad as once previously thought, or see a way to change how things are now.
